At times we lose hope because of things that actually mean nothing, sometimes it seems we are just looking for something that can help us run away from facing the world. We loese hope, we don’t show courage and determination. Yet there are people who make their life on their own with; hope, courage and determination. Aqil is one of such person, we should all be proud of. He lost his eyesight when he was just a teenager but still managed to pursue studies in Physics, something that we don’t usually see.

Aqil had vision problems when he was ten, he couldn’t see from one eye and doctors had said that if not operated he will soon be blinded completely. The operation helped him for six years but just when he was entering college for F.Sc he lost his complete vision. He couldn’t see at all. What was more painful was that Federal Board didn’t allow him to continue studies in Science. In such circumstances a normal guy would lose hope but Aqil was not an ordinary guy, he decided to continue his education and took admission in F.A and stood second in the final board exam. After that he completed BBA from a university in Islamabad. But that was never enough for him, with the help of Internet he foundĀ  a Professor of Physics at Oregon State University. Professor John Gardner was blind but he had developed a system at Oregon university that was used to help blind students pursue their studies in Physics. With the help of Professor John Gardner, Aqil completed his graduation in Physics from Oregon University. He was then enroled in University of Harvard for Ph.d in Theoretical Physics with full scholarship.

Aqil is a man of knowledge and has the knowledge about almost everything. He is a very good columnist and occasionally writes for newspapers. He is also a guest writer on All things Pakistan. He might not have the eyes to see but a vision broader than all of us. He will never let you feel that he can’t see, because the way he explains situation and the way he sees things, even those who have a very sharp observation cant. He is a lesson for all those students who make excuses for not studying sometimes. If he can study half way across the world, all alone without any help, then anyone of us can. Its not just about studies, its about the attitude. Pakiology wishes a very bright future to Aqil.

Aqil can be found on Linkedin and facebook.
