The much awaited Suzuki Swift has finally made to Pakistani market. This little master piece has received ‘Car of the Year’ award in as much as 8 countries across the globe. The car available here in Pakistan is ‘Pakistan assembled’ and has same European inspired exterior. The interior of the car is a little modified for Pakistan as it is always according to the country and market requirements.
The new Suzuki Swift is equipped with a powerful engine of 1.3L that is 1300cc. The engine type is M13A which comes with 4 cylinders and 16 valves with a horse power of 91.2. The fuel distribution is multipoint injection. The car is available in only manual transmission in Pakistan. The transmission type is 5MT that is a 5 forward and 1 reverse manual transmission. Company claims the mileage to be 13+ Km’s in a litre in city. It has been researched by us with the help of our reliable sources that a well maintained Suzuki Swift gives you 8.5+ km’s in a litre in city on Pakistan roads.
The exterior of the car is designed really good enough to offer a smooth and safe drive. The car is designed as to have low wind noise. A drag coefficient of only 0.32 is realized by the aero parts such as the front air dam, by the spoiler-type shape of tailgate’s trailing edge and by airflow-smoothing door mirrors. The high aerodynamics efficiency promotes cabin quietness by minimizing wind noise. Swift offers a seating capacity of 5 persons and fuel tank capacity of 43 litres.
Taking in account the visibility, swift has halogen projector headlamps. It also has front fog lamps and rear window demister. For good visibility in bad weather it has front 2-speed wipers and adjustable intermittent and washer.
The car safety is also considered and it comes with an ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) function as well. The car comes with front 3-point ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) seatbelts with adjusters and rear 3-point ELR seatbelts with centre 2-point lap belt. Rear door locks are also made childproof. The car security package also includes a high mounted stop lamp and immobilizer.
Let’s come to the interior of the car. We can say that interior of the car is made stylish when we compare it with other Suzuki cars available here in Pakistan. But comparing it with cars of other companies available in market, it is just a normal interior which does not attract customers from other companies like Toyota, Chevrolet etc. The interior portion consists of 3-spoke steering wheel, electric power steering, tilt adjustable steering wheel, electric windows front and rear both, central door locking including tailgate, remote control door locks, air conditioning, heater, pollen filter and audio system.
The instrumental panel offers tachometer, digital clock, light-off and key reminder, driver’s seatbelt reminder, door ajar reminder, low fuel warning and good background lights to read the meter easily.
Additional things include cabin lights, sun visors, assist grips passenger side, storage pockets front doors, central console box, cigarette lighter and ashtray and remote fuel lid opener. Luggage area also has a cover on it.
The Swift contains many good features with a powerful engine. The price of the car is much higher than other cars available in market. The company price is Rs 999,000/-. But Suzuki Swift has a benefit of having a 1.3 engine as well. All new hatchback cars available in Pakistan have at maximum 1000 cc engine. So, 1300 cc engine give Swift a chance to get a fair portion of the Pakistan automobile market. According to us the car lacks an attractive interior like other cars available in market plus the price issues. For the time being, car is only available with own and not on booking procedure. Let’s see which percentage of the market the new Suzuki Swift grabs for itself.

well i have driven this car and tested it on to its limits coz i was seriously thinking abt buying this good looking 1.3L hatch back but i have to change my mind after driving it.
it drives like a truck + abs is inefficient + handling is not good + cabin is not very quiet + interior sucks big time.
if u compare it with vitz which has a 1.0L vvti engine, it is no match to the class and elegance of vitz. vitz comes with airbags and entertainment system and CVT and abs and good fuel economy and good interior and almost quiet cabin and good handling and good top speed and good torque and comfortable seating and hugeeee cabin and a lot of toys to play with which swift can never offer.
This is a small hatch back with 1.3L engine. A small car in Pakistan is acceptable only if it runs economical. Fuel prices are increasing day after day, and Suzuki is offering a small bug who can suck more…….. It would have been more better to introduce 600 cc auto/manual transmission here in Pakistan. According to me this product will fail like any other major failures in automobile industry here in Pakistan.
so pricey for a plain 1.3l car. It should have a VVTi engine to give it better economy. The vitz can manage in real terms 11 km plus mileage in Lahore city traffic; whereas Swift 1.3l is 8.5 km plus. All due to absence of variable vale timiing (VVTi). No airbags, I find headlamp weak. Other things like shape and 15″ wheel good. It should be priced about Rs.6 lac and not Rs.10 lac to be successful.
@azhar very right atleast it should have 4 wheel abs and vvti engine. the customers also said that the abs system it has is not a good 1
Swift is more smooth Than Vitz.Its ABS is much better than vitz.It is the only hatch back car in Pakistan(plus 1.3 vitz) which gives you feeling of G Force.
Swift despite of its elegant looks, seems pathetic due to its horrible fuel consumption.
Too small leg room specially in the rear seats.
absence of any boot/luggage space.
CNG kit for Swift would cause an additional 55,000/-
In my view Cultus Efi is much better in space and economy than this car.
Salam,
Such a nice car Suzuki Swift where is the showroom..
Allah Hafiz
the car is good otherwise but my concern is it has bad fuel consumption. The swift in other countries has a M13A vvt engine whereas the vvt is removed in the pakistani swift that is why it does not have good fuel economy.
I own swift n its true it gives me 13 + km / litre in city. The reason is u won’t get chance to go on high rpm in city and running on low rpm makes it fuel efficient. Its true car should have been price down but once u feel the pleasure comfort and fast pickup u will fall in love. Those who compare with other sedan 1300cc in pricing, I would suggest them to check features too. Swift has surely more luxury features. I think its lower version will be priced around 9 lac.
Local SEO question-is it vital to contain the city title within your key terms?
does anyone one know. how Swift perfroms on CNG .. i heard it sucks on CNG ? any comments
1. It looks good.
2. Ride is quieter n smoother than Honda & Toyota.
3. The engine belts make a rattling noise. I have checked it in 5 different cars leaving the showroom & all of them had this problem. This is the only noise you hear inside the cabin as its exceptionally quiet otherwise. (It can’t be fixed, not at least by all the dealerships in lahore).
4. Vitz is no competition.
5. CNG Issue: Irrespective of the vehicle, I want to clear out one thing. Petrol is cheaper than CNG & requires no mentainance other than periodic oil/filter changes). All those who wanna argue, please test the theory first. Make sure you keep your RPM below 3 to get a good mileage. Avoid sudden acceleration n stops n when possible maintain a steady speed.
6. Coming to the mileage of Swift on petrol, it SUCKS! 6-8 Km/L tops. Again its a problem with all cars & not just mine. Cos I have been comparing notes with other swift owners over the last 3 months.
Pak Suzuki Motors needs to come up with a strategy to fix it.
Swift in Pakistan is a shadow of the ones being offered in Europe. To mention a few includes :
1. NO Air Bags, not even one, whereas elsewhere there are seven in Swift offered in Europe,
2. a plain 1.3L elsewhere VVTi and 1.6L offered,
3. old shape offered in Pakistan probably five years old;
4. side mirrors are without indicators whereas it is a standard elsewhere on Swift;
5. standard stering wheel offered here whereas a fully loaded one in Europe;
6. Option of Sunroof not offered in Pakistan;
7. Dashboard is probably five year old style as well whereas the new Swift in Europe is very stylish with alot of gadgets and tools;
8. no back wiper offered in Pakistan;
9. rear leg space is less than the ones offered in Europe. This means they are longer than ours;
10. Only four door available, whereas elsewhere also the option of having a two door coupe style.
11. I am not sure if Swift is available in convertible style anywhere…though it will be dream if they will do it in Pakistan.
Is this not enough …..is our money any less hard earned that we are treated like a third rate citizen in our own country ????
SOOO TRUEE
Will u guys please advise me whether to buy swift or not, as i am thinking of buying it..
Its not worth its price
nice one
In my opinion this Vehicle is fail to capture market in pakistan due to its high price & high fuel consumption.
do not buy it faraz, cultus is far better than tis coz of fuel consmptn.maintaince,n price.
Buying a crap for Rs. 1,131,000/- which drinks up your fuel @ 10 KM per liter is of no use. It is a failed attempt of Pak Suzuki. In India same car is selling at 800,000/-. (keeping Rupee value difference in account). The company is making exorbitant profits not suitable for this crap like its other models. It should have been 1.0 liter with the price same as of Cultus. Cultus should have been discontinued by now. Cultus is a weak and not durable car.
