Salient Features of NUST MBBS Admission 2023 – 2024

Foreign Seats

NSHS allocates 15% of its total seats to foreign students. A foreign student is defined as one holding a permanent foreign nationality or being an overseas Pakistani, having studied and passed HSSC or its equivalent from outside Pakistan.

Fee Payment

  • Foreign students pay the prescribed fee in foreign exchange, which may be higher than the fee for Pakistani students.
  • Fee payment can be made in installments on a quarterly, six-monthly, or annual basis.
  • Default in payment may lead to expulsion; students can clear payment within two weeks from the start of classes.

Transfer/ Migration Policy

No transfer is allowed in the first two years of the MBBS program.

Vacant Seat

The Registrar Directorate publicly displays vacant seats for at least 14 days, informing PMDC within this period.

Academic Qualifications

To be eligible for admission into the MBBS program at NSHS for the 2023 – 2024 session, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Obtained SSC & HSSC or Equivalent with 60% Marks:
    • Applicants must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent qualification.
  2. Passed NUMS MDCAT 2023 with 55% Marks:
    • Successful completion of the NUMS MDCAT 2023 is mandatory, with a minimum of 55% marks.

Local Students

  • Must have passed MDCAT 2023.
  • For HSSC, a qualification recognized in Pakistan with a minimum of 60% marks, with Biology & Chemistry as mandatory subjects.
  • Students appearing ONLY in NUMS test are eligible to apply.

Foreign Students

  • Mandatory MDCAT requirement is not applicable.
  • Must have qualified SAT-II with a minimum score of 550 in each subject, or a foreign MCAT examination, or UCAT examination with 50% marks in the subjects.

Merit Generation Criteria

  • NUMS MDCAT: 50%
  • HSSC / Equivalent: 40%
  • SSC / Equivalent: 10%

Verification of Credentials

The Registrar Directorate is entrusted with verifying the credentials of admitted students, including SSC, HSSC, or equivalent qualification, and the MDCAT result. The final verified list is submitted to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) for certification.

Once verified, the admitted student is formally registered with the PM&DC as a medical student.
