MDCAT Test postponed till further notice. Federal Health Minister in a statement said that the test is postponed in view of flood situation. The MDCAT test for admissions to medical and dental colleges will not be held for now. The minister also said that no date has been fixed for holding the test again, and it will only happen when all concerns are addressed.

MDCAT 2022 Test Postponed

MDCAT tests were scheduled to take place on September 14th to 30th October but have been postponed till further notice. The official website for MDCAT by PMC will announce the postponement soon. 

The reason for the postponement is devastating floods.  This is not the first time that the MDCAT test has been postponed. 

The MDCAT is a mandatory test for students who wish to apply to medical school in Pakistan. Over 200,000 students take the test every year.

Pakistan Medical Commission has postponed the entrance tests of medical and dental colleges MDCAT in view of the flood situation in the country.

This was announced by Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Abdul Qadir Patel in a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday afternoon.

He said that electricity and internet services are disconnected in different parts of the country, especially in Sindh and Balochistan, due to the ravages of floods. Due to this, a large number of students missed out on registering for the MDCAT test on the respective portal. 

He said that now the students who could not apply for the test can register themselves through the required portal. The registration portal will be opened for more two weeks. 

He said that MDCAT exam will be conducted in consultation with the provinces. He said that the MDCAT registration portal will remain open for two weeks for all unregistered students.

Abdul Qadir Patel said that the minimum required percentage to apply for admission to MBBS and BDS has also been reduced. He said that now 55 percent students can apply for MBBS admission and BDS course with 45 marks. He said that earlier this requirement was 65 percent for MBBS and 60 percent for BDS.

The minister said that this policy can also be revised if any seat remains vacant. He said that around 16000 Pakistani students are studying abroad due to which 50 billion rupees are being wasted. He said that we are committed to the comfort of our children.

He said that the Council has also decided to revise the National Licensing Examination for Pakistani graduates. However, this test will continue for foreigners.

The Minister said that it has also been decided to reinstate all PMC employees, whose services were forcibly terminated. He said that all the decisions have been taken by consensus.
